Welcome to Friday Flurry, my weekly round-up. These posts, which are a mixed bag of what I’m doing, reading and thinking about, are exclusively for paid subscribers. If you’re a regular reader, and you enjoy my writing, become a paid subscriber.
This week, I’m coming to you from Mildura, in rural Victoria. It’s literally 30 degrees cooler than last time than I was here and frankly, I’m OK with that.
On Sniffers
Before we go any further, I need your opinion on this very important poll.
I had three flights to catch on Wednesday, and after the first, I high-tailed it to the nearest store for an N95. My plane (WLG-AKL) was jammed with coughing, sneezing, sniffing, snot-swallowing, unmasked Judases. It took everything I had not to Mum-glare them all. Instead, I buried my face into my hoodie in an attempt to absorb my anguish and prevent breathing their scum.
I’ve had COVID five times (yes, five. You read that correctly.) It loves me, but the love isn’t mutual. I’m flu-jabbed, but I’m nervous about getting sick, and the impact on my life, business and family from repeated incapacitation.
Listening to all these sniffers and snorters on Wednesday made me wonder if I’m just horribly out of touch now.
Did we learn nothing from COVID? Really? Are we behaving like this? …Or am I just overreacting and living in the past? Is sick travel fine now? Cast your vote below!
