Also: I FOUND A GREAT NEW BOOKSTORE.
Welcome to Friday Flurry, my weekly round-up. These posts, which are a mixed bag of what I’m doing, reading and thinking about, are exclusively for paid subscribers. If you’re a regular reader, and you enjoy my writing, become a paid subscriber.
What I’m reading
I discovered a great bookshop in Greytown over the weekend. Here’s how I knew it was a great bookshop: the books weren’t organised strictly by genre, or alphabetised by author, so much as presented in complementary collections. Each curated shelf was clearly designed with the target reader in mind.
The layout and curation was sublime. Any given shelf would innocently be like: “Oh, do you like Aūe by Becky Manawatu? Well, you might also like Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver!” YOU’RE DAMN RIGHT I DO.
It gets better, though.
