As always, an entertaining and thought-provoking read. Those networks are not to be sniffed at, as I realised when we moved to NZ nearly 10 years ago and for the first time in forever, I had no "know someone who knows someone" to fall back on. Thankfully, AI tools hadn't quite made it to HR and I was still able to get a job in a reasonable time. Forever proud my cover letter for that particular role included the line "drinking tequila is never a good idea". Trust me, it reflected the tone of the advert and contextually made sense ... I'm not sure AI would have agreed though.)

Good stuff thanks. The enshittification of my Facebook feed over the past year strangely really felt like Facebook wanted to push me away. I can’t think why it would want to, but it succeeded and I’ve shut it down. I may be an unsatisfactory target; I set up a twitter account early in the day and shut it down after a month. I’ve never had instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat etc. I imagine enshittifcation has arrived in all of those.

No doubt the “tech bros” know all of this and have a plan beyond what they’ve done thus far. I haven’t yet seen anyone offer a guess what their plan is, but it won’t be good for us whatever it is.
